Overview

Marlborough is a fantastic place to visit during New Zealand winter! A maximum of only six people join the Winter Wine Gourmet and Scenic Pleasures of Marlborough small group tours designed to be a custom day where you’ll experience celebrated wines, superb cuisine (including gourmet treats), and stunning landscapes.

There is still plenty of wine to be enjoyed, the production lines still busy filling wine bottles. You may also even get an opportunity to glimpse behind the scenes on a private invitation. Exceptional chefs also prepare local cuisine for you to sample, and welcoming winery owners open their doors to you for a memorable dining experience in their family cellar door restaurants and cafés.

Different activities for every individual in the group can be arranged by Your Local Chauffeur to ensure that everyone gets to see what they came for. Cellar doors and hosts are made aware of your coming. Except for Christmas Day and Easter Friday, most wineries open their doors every day of the year.
A door to door pick up from Picton (10.30am) or Blenheim (11:00am) is included in your tour.

Taste New Zealand’s premium wines with tour “Pleasures” and tour “Delights”. You will encounter many favourites here as more than 77% of New Zealand wines are produced in Marlborough.

Consider viewing Peter Jackson’s fascinating classic air WWI and WWII exhibits at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum. Or visit an art gallery or topnotch garden to experience a winter special NZ foliage. On the Sounds, an exhilarating jet boat ride can be an option (dependent on the availability of the Captain; extra charges apply on the day).

The Kaikoura Ranges’ southernmost mountains get snow that eventually blankets the rest of the great Southern Alps. If you wish to go to a ski field, it’s only two hours’ drive, with a crystal lake close by for a spectacular walk in the company of NZ native bush.

Wairau Valley, and farther afield, on the tip of the North Island, Wellington can be glimpsed from a selection of lunch spots with high vantage points.
Farmed green-lip mussels and salmon are some of Marlborough’s must-try, including the North Canterbury lamb, and even pork belly and venison, prepared by chefs according to high standards that have earned wide acclaim in Marlborough.

Special gourmeat treats abound too, and you can sample local oils, cheeses, liqueurs, manuka honey, garlic noir, chilli peanut butters and a host of other delectable morsels. Makana Boutique Chocolate Confections are a real treat and will surprise you with a taste greeting you at the front door.
Recommendations are offered for an exceptional evening dining, or pizza at a brewery or even more wine and tapas at a special town corner, as the day comes to a close. Whether it’s summer, spring, winter or autumn back at home, winter in New Zealand is altogether special and worth considering.

Prepare to be stunned by the beauty of the country. If you are heading south and you are looking for a unique itinerary of the South Island, you are welcome to ask Your Local Chauffeur Pamela for exceptional options of the tours and activities that come highly recommended.
