How do I apply for a New Zealand tourist visa?


In Visas and Passports

Most travellers apply online via Immigration New Zealand. It is faster and cheaper than paper applications.

Quick Application Guide:

  1. Check Eligibility: Confirm you need a Visitor Visa (not an NZeTA).
  2. Create Login: Register for a RealMe® account on the official website.
  3. Upload: Have your passport, photo, and proof of funds ready.
  4. Pay: Complete the application fee and IVL payment online.

Note for Australian Travellers: You do not need a visa or NZeTA.

Note for Chinese & Pacific Island Nationals: You may be exempt from the Visitor Visa if you travel directly from Australia with an eligible Australian visa. You may only need an NZeTA.
