Ship Cove to Resolution Bay on the Queen Charlotte Track
Following your visit to Motuara Island, continue by water taxi to historic Ship Cove, one of the most significant locations in New Zealand's maritime history. Your guide will share stories of Captain James Cook's visits, Māori heritage and the cultural importance of this beautiful bay before setting off on foot.
The 7km walk follows what many consider the finest section of the Queen Charlotte Track. Ancient podocarp forest, native beech trees, regenerating fern valleys and spectacular viewpoints create a constantly changing landscape. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views across Queen Charlotte Sound while learning about the area's ecology, history and unique wildlife.
A freshly prepared picnic lunch with tea or cafetière coffee provides the perfect opportunity to relax and soak up the scenery before your return boat journey to Picton.
