NZONE’s 9,000ft tandem skydive starts at 35 Shotover Street, Queenstown, with an included 20-minute shuttle each way to the drop zone below the Remarkables. Allow roughly two hours at the drop zone and three to 3½ hours overall. It operates daily when weather permits. Briefing, equipment, a tandem instructor, a 15–20-minute flight, up to 25 seconds of freefall, a parachute glide and return transport are included. It suits first-time skydivers and eligible children aged six and over who meet the 120cm height and 40kg weight minimums.

From Alpine Views to an Adrenaline-Fuelled Freefall

Your adventure begins with an approximately 15-minute scenic flight, giving you time to take in Queenstown’s mountains, lake and dramatic alpine terrain as the aircraft climbs towards 9,000ft. Securely harnessed to an experienced tandem instructor, you’ll prepare for the moment the aircraft door opens and the landscape suddenly stretches out thousands of feet below.

Then comes the highlight: up to 25 seconds of freefall at around 200 km/h. Once the parachute opens, the experience changes completely, slowing into a relaxed three-to-four-minute descent with time to appreciate the scenery from above. Offering a shorter freefall than the 12,000ft and 15,000ft options, the 9,000ft tandem skydive is an exciting introduction to skydiving while still delivering the views and adrenaline that make Queenstown famous for adventure.

All you need is a smile and a sense of adventure for your Skydive Wanaka adventure! We’ll provide the jumpsuit, helmet, goggles, and gloves.

Please wear secure shoes that won’t fall off during freefall – flip-flops, jandals, or bare feet are not allowed. In winter, wear warm clothes, preferably in layers rather than bulky clothing.

For safety reasons, you must wear closed-in shoes.

Yes, you can wear either glasses or contact lenses. We’ll provide you with goggles that fit over your eyewear so you can fully enjoy the stunning views during your skydive.

For safety reasons, you cannot bring a camera or other items with you on the plane. There is a risk of the camera hitting the instructor during freefall, which could lead to injury or a very unhappy instructor!

All individuals weighing 95kg or more are subject to a Tandem Master assessment at the drop zone.

The minimum weight requirement is 40kg/88lb and the minimum height is 1.2m/47.2 inches. All passengers must fit securely into the harness.
