Arrival in Arthur’s Pass places you in the heart of the Southern Alps. Time here allows for a walk to the Devil’s Punchbowl waterfall or free time to enjoy the village setting and alpine air.
This stop marks the crossing from the east coast to the West Coast.
A stop at the Otira Gorge lookout provides sweeping views over the Otira Viaduct and steep mountain valleys below. Known locally as Death’s Corner, this viewpoint highlights the engineering feat of the viaduct and the rugged terrain it crosses.
