Morning Kayaking at Pōhatu Marine Reserve

An 8 am departure from Akaroa provides a quieter start to this guided sea-kayaking experience at Pōhatu Marine Reserve. Scenic 4WD transport crosses Banks Peninsula before approximately 1 to 1.5 hours on the water, paddling beneath volcanic cliffs and around reefs, rock formations and coastal caves.

Qualified guides provide equipment, safety instruction and commentary about the marine environment. New Zealand fur seals, seabirds, kororā and Hector’s dolphins may be seen along the route, although all wildlife sightings depend on natural behaviour and sea conditions.
