Adventure Through Queenstown’s Most Epic Film Sites
Continue through the Kawarau Gorge, where the towering Argonath — the Pillars of the Kings — appeared on screen, before heading towards historic Arrowtown and the location associated with Gladden Fields. From here, the 4WD adventure follows an old gold-mining road and crosses the Arrow River on the way to the Ford of Bruinen, bringing together some of the region’s most recognisable Middle-earth locations in one memorable journey.
There’s plenty of Kiwi character along the way too. Try your hand at gold panning in the Arrow River, pause for morning or afternoon tea amid the scenery, and take in views from the entrance to Skippers Canyon and Lighthouse Rock. It’s a tour that goes beyond film-location sightseeing, combining Lord of the Rings stories, gold-rush heritage, river crossings and off-road adventure in the landscapes surrounding Queenstown.

This tour can be booked as a private trip. Reserve a full 4WD vehicle just for your group (maximum 6 people per vehicle).

If you’d like everyone in your group to have a window seat, choose our 4-person max option, which limits the vehicle to four guests.

- Adults: 15 years and over: Full adult fare applies.
- Children: 4–14 years: Travel at a discounted child rate.
- Infants: 0–3 years: Travel free of charge when accompanied by an adult.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
- More than 24 hours before departure: Full refund**.
- Within 24 hours: No refund
