3 Day Private Coromandel Photography Tour

We'll pick you up from Auckland Airport or your city hotel and head to Hahei on the Coromandel Peninsula, where we're staying. The Coromandel Peninsula is a hilly piece of land formed by old volcanoes, separated from Auckland by the Firth of Thames, a shallow part of the sea with lots of seabirds. We'll explore a couple of quiet beaches on the eastern side of the peninsula before checking into our hotel. Once settled, we'll gather in the conference room for a chat about taking long exposure photos and using advanced settings for HDR photography.

We'll start the day with a sunrise photo session at Cathedral Cove, famous for its appearance in the Narnia films. After snapping the cove and its amazing arch, we'll head back to the hotel for breakfast. You'll have some free time to relax and go over our techniques for long exposure and dynamic shorter shots. In the afternoon, we'll drive north to photograph the forests and waterfalls along one of the Coromandel's quieter roads. With mountains rising steeply, many streams in the area have lovely waterfalls. We'll finish the day watching the sunset at one of the Coromandel's bays, using the long exposure and HDR techniques we've learnt to capture unique photos.

After breakfast and checking out, we'll take a boat trip with The Hahei Explorer, where we'll visit remote spots like Orua Sea Cave, Whale Cave, Motueka Island, and Poikeke Arch. This trip gives us a different view of the small islands we've seen from the beach, as well as Cathedral Cove marine reserve and the chance to see some of our special marine life. As we leave Hahei along the coast, lined with colourful Pohutukawa trees, we'll stop at a couple of bays to enjoy the scenery, especially vibrant in the summer months.
