Hobbiton Express with Buffet Lunch from Auckland

This small group tour offers an easy day trip from Auckland to the iconic Hobbiton Movie Set, featured in *The Lord of the Rings* and *The Hobbit* trilogies. The experience includes a fully guided tour of the set, where you can explore inside a Hobbit Hole and enjoy a delightful buffet lunch in the Party Marquee, located next to the Green Dragon Inn.

Your day starts with pick-up from your Auckland City accommodation, where our experienced guides provide full commentary throughout the journey, sharing insights into the scenic farmland and the movie set you’ll be visiting. There’s a brief stop at a local café for a snack or coffee—what we like to call a ‘second breakfast’—before arriving at Hobbiton. Once there, a specialist guide will lead you on a walking tour of the 44 Hobbit holes.

A highlight of the day is exploring inside a Hobbit home, where you can sit at a hobbit-sized table or try out a hobbit bed. You’ll also get the chance to stand at the gate of Bilbo’s house, Bag End, with views of the Party Tree and the entire set. Before your buffet lunch, enjoy a complimentary ale, cider, or ginger beer at the Green Dragon Inn. After lunch, you’ll receive a souvenir voucher to spend at the Hobbiton gift shop, and return to Auckland in the afternoon, well before the evening traffic.
