Absolutely! About 70% of our guests travel solo, so you’ll fit right in. Plus, there are no additional charges for solo travellers on any of our tours.

Accommodation on a Haka Plus Tour is a twin-share room, and if you are travelling alone, we will arrange for you to share a room with a fellow guest (of the same gender), or you have the choice to upgrade to a private room.

Everyone has their favourites, but some of the most popular activities include:

  • Sailing in Taupō
  • Nevis Bungy in Queenstown
  • Rafting, ziplining, and glowworm kayaking in Rotorua
  • Dolphin encounters in Kaikōura
  • Heli-hiking in Franz Josef

Your Haka guide will schedule your chosen activities in the best way possible, so they might happen on different days or times than listed in the itinerary.

A continental breakfast is included each morning, featuring cereal, toast, tea, coffee, and juice. Special requests can also be accommodated.

Lunches and dinners are at your own expense, but your guide will recommend the best spots to suit your budget and preferences. Some nights, the group may cook a shared meal at the hostel, costing around $15 NZD per person. Alternatively, the group might head to a local pub or enjoy a BBQ during summer, with meals starting at $25 NZD.

Yes, we frequently have vegetarian and vegan guests. Most cafés and restaurants in New Zealand offer these options, and if you don’t see them on the menu, just ask—most places are happy to prepare something for you.

Our guests range from their late teens to mid-60s, with the average age between 25–45. What matters most is a thirst for adventure, as age is no barrier.

The minimum age to join is 18, and a reasonable level of fitness is required for the activities. Keep in mind that some group outings may include bars, where New Zealand’s strict alcohol policies apply.

Yes, we offer an optional trip to the stunning Milford Sound while in Queenstown. Several excursion options are available, and you can view them online.

Yes, you can upgrade to a private room if you prefer. Please note that bathrooms will still be shared due to the hostel layout.

Planning your packing? Here’s what you need to know:

  • You can bring one suitcase or backpack weighing up to 20kg. This will be safely stored in a trailer as we travel.
  • A day pack is also allowed and can be kept with you in the van.

If your tour starts and ends in the same location, you might have the option to store excess luggage at the hostel during your trip.
