The Wānaka ski resorts of Cardrona, Treble Cone, and Snow Farm are open from early June to mid-October. With the best months for skiing and snowboarding in Wanaka being from mid July to mid September. Each month of the ski and snowboard season offers a unique experience. In June, the early season kicks off, and even if the natural snowfall is limited, the resorts have invested in advanced snowmaking technology to ensure there's something to slide on. The average temperatures in town range from 3 to 12 °C, while in the mountains, they can go as low as -3 to -10 °C. Special events during this time include Opening Day Celebrations and Matariki festivities.
