What happens if the TranzAlpine train is delayed?

The TranzAlpine travels through mountainous terrain where weather and operating conditions can cause delays of 30 minutes or more. The tour includes a transfer from Christchurch Railway Station after the train arrives, but late arrivals may affect evening plans. Avoid scheduling flights, intercity buses or other time-sensitive connections immediately afterwards.
