This 15,000ft tandem skydive departs Wānaka Airport, with a scenic flight to altitude, up to 60 seconds of freefall and a parachute ride over Wānaka. Trip times run nine times daily from 6:30am–2:30pm, seven days a week; allow around three hours overall. It includes your tandem instructor, safety briefing, jumpsuit and safety equipment, and suits adventurers aged 13+ who meet the height, weight and harness requirements.
Your adventure begins at Wānaka Airport, where you meet your tandem instructor, complete a safety briefing and get fitted with your skydiving equipment. As the aircraft climbs towards 15,000ft, the landscape spreads out below, revealing Lake Wānaka, Lake Hāwea, deep valleys and the peaks of the Southern Alps. On a clear day, the flight to altitude is an impressive scenic experience before you even reach the aircraft door.
Then comes the defining moment: securely attached to your tandem instructor, you leave the aircraft for up to 60 seconds of freefall at speeds exceeding 200 km/h. Once the parachute opens, the pace changes dramatically, giving you time to take in the alpine landscape during the canopy ride back towards the landing area. As Wānaka’s highest tandem option, the 15,000ft jump maximises both altitude and freefall time.

All individuals weighing 95kg or more will undergo a Tandem Master assessment at the drop zone. There may be extra charges based on weight.
The minimum weight requirement is 30kg (66lbs), and the minimum height is 1.2m/47.2 inches. All passengers must fit securely into the harness.
While you must be in reasonable physical condition to skydive, having a physical disability doesn't automatically exclude you from tandem skydiving. A medical statement will be completed prior to your jump.
Minimum age:
Children aged 6 years and over can skydive at Skydive Wānaka, depending on their weight, size, and how securely the harness fits.
Children under 12 years can skydive from a maximum height of 9,000ft, subject to an assessment by the Tandem Master. Passengers under 18 will need written consent from a parent or guardian.
Maximum age:
There’s no maximum age limit at Skydive Wānaka. Our oldest skydiver was 92 years old! As long as you're in good physical health and ready for an adventure, we welcome you to join us for a thrilling skydive.
While we take off from Wānaka Airport, the landing zone is nearby on private land.
Skydive Wānaka is based at Wānaka Airport, just a 10-minute drive from the Wānaka village in New Zealand’s Southern Alps. If you're coming from Queenstown, it's only an hour’s drive to our location.
Check in Time at Dropzone/Pick up time is 10 minutes prior to departure.
All you need is a smile and a sense of adventure for your Skydive Wanaka adventure! We’ll provide the jumpsuit, helmet, goggles, and gloves.
Please wear secure shoes that won’t fall off during freefall – flip-flops, jandals, or bare feet are not allowed. In winter, wear warm clothes, preferably in layers rather than bulky clothing.
For safety reasons, you must wear closed-in shoes.
We don't skydive if the weather conditions are unfavourable—it's as simple as that. If the weather prevents you from jumping at your scheduled time, we can reschedule for later in the day or the following day, depending on the weather and your availability. It's always helpful to be flexible with your booking, just in case conditions change. Fortunately, Wānaka typically enjoys great weather, which is one of the many reasons it's a fantastic spot for skydiving!
