Itinerary
9:00 AM – Begin your adventure by leaving Christchurch as our knowledgeable guide points out key highlights of the Garden City and the beautiful countryside as we head towards Arthur's Pass.
Springfield / Alpine Jet – Arrive in the charming town of Springfield. For those who’ve added the jet boat experience, enjoy a thrilling ride on the Waimakariri River. Non-jet boat participants can explore the surroundings, go for scenic walks, or cuddle with the local sheep.
Castle Hill – Continue the journey to Castle Hill. Explore these magnificent limestone formations, famous for their appearance in films like The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia. Take a stroll and enjoy the stunning scenery.
Otira Gorge Lookout – Make a quick stop at Otira Gorge, also known as "Death's Corner." Admire the impressive Otira Viaduct and the surrounding landscape of Arthur’s Pass National Park. Keep an eye out for the cheeky Kea parrots!
Arthur’s Pass Village – Arrive in Arthur’s Pass Village, nestled amidst the Southern Alps. Take a break here and browse the shops, or head out on a short walk.
Devils Punch Bowl Walk (Optional) – For those who wish, embark on a 1-hour return hike to the Devils Punch Bowl Waterfall, a breathtaking 131-meter waterfall. The trail offers a gradual incline with steps, through lush forest.
Please note our driver will keep you updated on the time to catch your train back to the city.
TranzAlpine Train Departure – Board the world-renowned TranzAlpine train at Arthur’s Pass Station for a scenic return journey to Christchurch. Enjoy the magnificent views of the Canterbury Plains and Southern Alps from the open viewing carriages. (Duration: 2 hours)
Arrive at Christchurch Train Station – Arrive back at Christchurch Station, where your guide will be waiting to transfer you back to your accommodation.
7:00PM - Arrive back at your accommodation in Christchurch.
