Exploring the Bay of Islands One Glass at a Time

Enjoy a relaxed afternoon exploring the Bay of Islands’ best wineries and breweries with a friendly group of just 11 guests. The tour begins at the Paihia I-Site at 12:30 pm, with an optional pick-up in Kerikeri at 1:00 pm. You’ll travel through lush countryside, discovering the region’s passion for local wine and craft beer.

At Phat House Brewery in Haruru Falls, owners Caroline and Rob welcome you into their world of handcrafted brews. Founded in 2015, this laid-back spot captures the true spirit of Northland creativity. Guests can savour up to four beers made from natural ingredients — unfiltered, unpasteurised, and packed with fresh local flavour.

Itinerary

2:30 PM – Start Your Journey
Your delightful afternoon begins with pickup from the Paihia I-Site at 12:30 PM. For those starting in Kerikeri, we’ll meet you at the BP Service Station at 1:00 PM. With a small group of just 11 passengers, this tour promises an intimate and relaxed experience.

First Stop: Fat Pig Vineyard
The first destination is the charming Fat Pig Vineyard, one of the oldest in the Kerikeri region. Sample their fantastic range of wines, including Fat Pig Bubbles 2023, Fat Pig White Diamond 2023, Fat Pig Rosé 2023, and Fat Pig Sauvignon Blanc 2023. This stop offers a wonderful introduction to the Bay of Islands’ vibrant winemaking scene.

Second Stop: Marsden Estate
Next, we visit Marsden Estate, a family-owned vineyard with a legacy spanning over 20 years. Enjoy six exquisite wine tastings paired with a delicious platter lunch. Relax in the courtyard overlooking tranquil lakes and flourishing vines – a serene setting to soak in the region’s charm.

Third Stop: Phat House Brewery
From there, the tour takes a turn towards craft beer at the Phat House Brewery in Haruru Falls. Established in 2015, this brewery prides itself on crafting natural, unfiltered, and preservative-free beers. Sample up to four of their expertly brewed creations while learning about the passion and process behind each pint from the friendly owners, Caroline and Rob.

Return Journey
After an afternoon of indulgence, we’ll return you to your starting point in either Paihia or Kerikeri. Arrive back with wonderful memories and perhaps a bottle or two of your favourites to enjoy later.
