The Day Triventure is a unique way to explore the Mighty Waikato River, combining three adventures into one seamless experience. With shuttle service, bike and kayak hire included, everything is set for a smooth and enjoyable journey. Whether you prefer to go at your own pace or request a guided tour, this adventure caters to all explorers seeking connection with nature and a touch of challenge.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Hiking: Start your journey with a scenic walk from Jones Landing to Arapuni Dam (5 km). Along the way, take in the stunning views of the pink-hued ignimbrite bluffs of Upper Lake Arapuni and visit the Lake Arapuni lookout for a breathtaking panorama.
- Historical Stop: Don’t miss the opportunity to cross the historic Arapuni Swingbridge, a must-see whether you ride or walk across it.
- Biking: At Arapuni Dam, pick up your bike and enjoy a picturesque ride back to Riverside Adventures Base, with options to stop and explore along the way.
- Kayaking: Upon returning to our base, collect your kayak and paddle through the southern end of Lake Karapiro. Continue your journey up the picturesque Pokaiwhenua Stream, known for its serene beauty and canyon views.
TOUR INCLUSIONS
- Shuttle Service: Transport from Riverside Adventures Base to Jones Landing.
- Bike Hire: Includes a range of bike sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL) and e-Bikes. Each bike is equipped with a helmet, drink holders, first aid kit, and a tube and puncture repair kit.
- Kayak Hire: Single or double kayaks, including paddles, personal flotation devices (lifejackets), and wetshoes.
- Pre-Hire Safety Briefing: Comprehensive safety briefing and paddling tips before you begin your kayaking adventure.
- Additional Gear: Splash pants and dry bags available on request.
BIKING TOURS
- Are the activities safe? Absolutely! At Riverside Adventures, safety is our highest priority. All our staff are highly experienced and familiar with the waters and trails. We advise everyone to participate within their limits and take care, particularly on bike trails where the surface can be rough and unstable.
- What should I wear on a bike tour? Wear comfortable clothing and closed shoes (skirts are not recommended). Don’t forget your water bottle.
- Do you provide all the gear I need? Yes, we provide helmets and a small pack with first aid and puncture repair kits. Gel seat covers, hi-vis vests, and backpacks are available upon request.
- What grade is the Waikato River Trail? The trail is mostly Grade 3 (intermediate) with a section at Waipapa that is Grade 4 (advanced). The Karapiro section is Grade 2-3 and is suitable for most people with a moderate fitness level.
