Milford Sound Classic Cruise

The Milford Sound Classic Cruise is a relaxed 1.5-hour cruise-only experience departing from the Milford Sound terminal aboard either the Sovereign or Monarch. Spacious viewing areas and commentary from a specialist nature guide provide an accessible introduction to Piopiotahi’s waterfalls, rainforest and towering cliffs. The cruise suits all ages, including infants under four, but transport from Queenstown or Te Anau is not included.

Cruise beneath sheer rock walls and rainforest-covered slopes while waterfalls tumble from the surrounding mountains into the fiord. Your onboard nature guide shares insights into Milford Sound’s geology, history and wildlife while helping passengers watch for New Zealand fur seals, dolphins and seasonal Fiordland crested penguins. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but every journey offers changing views shaped by Fiordland’s light and weather.

The Sovereign and Monarch are spacious sightseeing vessels with expansive upper decks and comfortable indoor areas, allowing passengers to enjoy the scenery in all conditions. Optional picnic lunches and international buffet meals are available on selected departures, making it easy to combine the cruise with lunch. Daily departures are scheduled for 9.00am, 11.00am, 12.00pm, 1.15pm and 1.55pm, although operating times vary by season and should be confirmed when booking.
