Relaxing Wilderness Walk with Scenic Views and Local Stories in Queen Charlotte Sound
Begin your day with a morning cruise from Picton across the Marlborough Sounds to Furneaux Lodge, arriving in time for a coffee or light brunch before the walk begins. The track meanders along the coastline of Endeavour Inlet, offering a peaceful journey through native bush that has flourished where farmland once stood. This gentle section of the Queen Charlotte Track is well-formed and rich with birdsong.
Birdlife accompanies you through regenerating forest, with interpretation panels near the historic Antimony Mine offering insights into the area’s past. As you continue, open fields and forested sections reveal glimpses of Queen Charlotte Sound and the deep blue inlet below. Arrive at Punga Cove Resort in the afternoon, where you can relax on the Boat Shed Café's deck with a well-deserved drink before boarding the return cruise between 4 and 4:30 pm, arriving back in Picton between 5:30 and 6 pm.
