Film, Culture and Geothermal Wonders Along the Way
The journey begins with an early morning pick-up from central Auckland, followed by a scenic drive through the Waikato’s rolling farmland. The first major stop is the Hobbiton Movie Set, one of New Zealand’s most recognisable filming locations. A guided visit includes travelling through the village by bus, seeing the Hobbit Holes, the Mill and the Double Arched Bridge, and enjoying a complimentary drink at the Green Dragon Inn.
From Hobbiton, the tour continues south to Rotorua for a visit to Te Puia Geothermal Valley. Bubbling mud pools, steaming vents and the impressive Pōhutu Geyser showcase the area’s geothermal activity. Time is also spent learning about Māori culture through carving and weaving demonstrations and viewing native kiwi birds before drop-off in Rotorua.
