Two Days of Adventure in the Rees Valley

The Rees Valley Overnight Packrafting Trip is an unforgettable mix of hiking, rafting and exploration through one of New Zealand’s most stunning alpine landscapes. On the first day, you’ll hike into the upper Rees Valley, visiting hidden gems like Lennox Falls and 25 Mile Creek. These side adventures showcase the valley’s beauty before you float back to a private camp tucked deep in the wilderness.

Camping under the stars brings a sense of peace and connection with the landscape that few visitors ever experience. Your guides will share stories of the area while preparing for the next day’s river adventure. This overnight trip is the perfect blend of challenge, relaxation and discovery in one of Otago’s most spectacular backcountry settings.

The Perfect Introduction to Packrafting

This overnight adventure is ideal for anyone wanting to try packrafting for the first time or experience a short, self-supported trip in comfort. Small group sizes allow your guide to tailor the experience to your pace and interests — whether you’re after a relaxed getaway or a little more excitement.

With light packs, flat terrain, and downstream paddling, everything is designed to make your adventure enjoyable and accessible. Your experienced guide provides expert tuition, takes care of all meals, and ensures every detail is handled so you can simply focus on the experience. It’s a unique, memorable way to explore New Zealand’s backcountry — one gentle paddle stroke at a time.

No prior experience is necessary, but a reasonable level of fitness is advantageous. We'll do everything we can to make the trip as easy and comfortable as possible, but this is still an authentic outdoor adventure so a good attitude and/or experience spending time in the great outdoors is useful.

The whitewater packrafting section is the highlight of most peoples trip, however it is the technically most difficult part. There is an option to skip this section if this is too challenging for people. Our hope is that this level of adventure, with expert tuition and a fun yet challenging environment is precisely what floats your proverbial boat!
