Details

Experience the Skywire, one of the world's longest Flying Foxes, located right here in Nelson. This unique experience offers a thrilling shot of adrenaline mixed with an incredible scenic ride high above the forest canopy. Situated 300 meters above the base cafe, your journey begins with a 4 km mini-bus ride up through the park to the launch platform of the Skywire. During the trip up, your guides will entertain you with facts and stories about the park and surrounding areas.

The ride accommodates up to 4 people at a time, seated side by side in individual racing car-style seats with 5-point harnesses. It can reach speeds of up to 100 km/hr and takes you both forward and backwards. With 800 meters of gravity-assisted freewheeling in each direction, combined with 700 meters of scenic journey, the thrilling adventure lasts nearly 10 minutes. Many people consider the return journey backwards as the highlight of the trip. The Skywire is universally appealing for every age.

Please note that the Skywire is weather dependent and will not operate in heavy rain or high winds. While bookings are not always essential, they are highly recommended during the busy summer season. Standard operating hours are from 10 am with the last trip departing the base at 3:00 pm. Allow 1 to 1.5 hours for the round trip from the Base Cafe, depending on group numbers. Extended hours are available over the January period.
