Marlborough is New Zealand’s largest wine-producing region and is particularly well known for Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Depending on the cellar doors visited, tastings may also include Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Viognier, Grüner Veltliner, Arneis, Merlot and other varietals grown locally.
Gourmet stops may feature cheeses, oils, liqueurs, mānuka honey, peanut butter, black garlic and chocolates from Makana Chocolate Boutique. Seasonal strawberries, cherries, apricots and nectarines may be available between December and February.
Your local owner-guide shares knowledge of Marlborough while travelling between vineyards, farms and market gardens. Elevated viewpoints reveal the valley’s contrasting vines, rolling hill ranges and rural landscapes.
Lunch can be purchased at a winery garden café or hillside chateau, with options such as cheese platters, seafood, salmon, lamb or light tapas depending on the venue visited.
