Milford, Routeburn and Kepler Tracks for Multi-Day or Day Walk Adventures

Fiordland Great Walks are among the most celebrated hiking experiences in New Zealand, guiding you through vast alpine landscapes, moss-draped forests, and glacier-sculpted valleys. The Milford, Routeburn and Kepler Tracks form part of the Department of Conservation’s Great Walks network, offering well-maintained trails, dramatic scenery, and options for both full multi-day hikes and shorter day walks.

The Milford Track, often dubbed the "finest walk in the world," is a four-day journey through ancient rainforest, alpine passes, and past towering waterfalls like the iconic Sutherland Falls. However, guided day walk options are available at both ends of the track, offering a taste of its grandeur without the full commitment. The Routeburn Track, which links Fiordland and Mount Aspiring National Parks, can be completed in two to three days or explored via popular day hikes from the Divide or Routeburn Shelter. Highlights include alpine lakes, swing bridges, and sweeping mountain views.
