How Do Tides Affect an Abel Tasman Walking Itinerary?

Some routes include tidal crossings. At Awaroa Inlet, DOC’s guidance allows crossing only in daylight, from 1 hour 30 minutes before low tide until 2 hours after low tide, when conditions are safe. There is no all-tide track around the inlet.

Torrent Bay has an alternative track around its estuary. Check DOC’s current tide tables alongside your Abel Tasman Coast Track route before confirming transport.
