Start: Whitianga Wharf
Travel Time: 2 hours

The Cathedral Cove Glass Bottom Boat Tour is a 2-hour cruise from Whitianga exploring the Coromandel coast above and below the surface. See Cathedral Cove, volcanic rock formations and hidden sea caves, then look through the boat's glass panels into Te Whanganui-o-Hei Marine Reserve, with optional swimming and snorkelling amongst the fish.

Cathedral Cove Above & Below the Surface

Cruise from Whitianga Wharf along the volcanic coastline to Cathedral Cove, passing golden beaches, towering rock formations, blowholes and hidden sea caves. Your local crew shares stories about the area's history, geology and marine environment along the way.

Inside Te Whanganui-o-Hei Marine Reserve, the floor panels are lifted for underwater viewing. Look for kelp forests, snapper, blue maomao, stingrays, crayfish and other marine life, or choose to swim and snorkel when conditions allow. Snorkelling is completely optional, so you can stay dry and enjoy the underwater views from the boat.
