The following minimum cancellation charges apply, together with any additional charges imposed by individual suppliers:

45 days or more before travel: Full loss of deposit.
8–44 days before travel: 50% cancellation fee.
0–7 days before travel: 100% cancellation fee.

No refund is available once travel has commenced. Individual suppliers cannot authorise refunds on behalf of Go New Zealand. Any refund is at Go New Zealand’s discretion.

Day 1: Arrive in Christchurch

Collect your six-day rental SUV on arrival in Christchurch and drive to your accommodation. Settle in, then explore the central city, riverside or nearby gardens at your own pace. Your first night is in Christchurch.

Day 2: Akaroa Harbour wildlife cruise and Banks Peninsula

Drive across Banks Peninsula to Akaroa, allowing approximately 90 minutes to two hours each way from Christchurch. Plan your day around the included cruise, with time to explore the waterfront and stop for lunch before returning to Christchurch.

Included Experience: Akaroa Harbour Nature Cruise with Black Cat (2 hrs): Explore Akaroa Harbour’s volcanic coastline while looking for Hector’s dolphins, New Zealand fur seals and marine birdlife. Commentary introduces the harbour’s natural and cultural history, while indoor seating and outdoor viewing areas give the family different ways to enjoy the journey. Optional Experience: International Antarctic Centre self-guided general admission (1.5-2 hrs). Explore the Antarctic exhibits, rescued little penguins, Storm Room and 4D Theatre at your own pace. General admission also includes the Hägglunds ride for guests who meet its safety requirements. Minimum Height 1.2m

Optional Experience: Manaaki Waka Experience with Waka on Avon (75 minutes). Begin with a traditional Māori welcome, learn a paddler warm-up and kaihoe haka, then join a guided waka experience on the Ōtākaro Avon River. The tram’s 18-stop circuit gives access to city highlights including Cathedral Square, Riverside Market, the Arts Centre, Christchurch Art Gallery, the Botanic Gardens, Tūranga and New Regent Street.
