The roads around River Valley are predominantly backcountry gravel roads graded around 2–3. You will be riding on public roads and sharing them with vehicles, although traffic is generally light. Ride to the road conditions, obey New Zealand road rules and choose a route that matches your cycling ability.
You need to be able to comfortably fit and control the bike. Bikes are available in sizes S to XL, with mountain-bike style frames including Giant Talon and Liv Tempt models. Liv Tempt bikes have a lower top bar and may suit riders who prefer easier mounting.
This is a freedom hire, not a guided ride. You are responsible for navigation, route choice, pacing and deciding whether the conditions are suitable for you.
Adventure activities naturally involve some risk to both people and property. We do our best to minimise these risks but cannot guarantee your safety. Please choose the activity that best matches your fitness level and expectations. Always ride according to the conditions and your ability, and obey the rules of the road.
