Itinerary
We begin our journey in the peaceful town of Franz Josef, heading towards Christchurch, the garden city. Along the way, we'll make a few memorable stops, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the stunning West Coast scenery. Our first stop is Lake Ianthe, a tranquil lake surrounded by lush podocarp forests and home to diverse wetland bird species, including the endangered Great Crested Grebe. Take a moment to soak in the serene atmosphere and snap some photos of this beautiful spot.
Next, we arrive in Hokitika, a charming coastal town where you can stroll along the black sand beach and take in the rugged coastline of the Tasman Sea. There's also a chance to search for greenstone on the shore, while our guides give you time to explore Hokitika’s unique offerings. From there, we venture to Hokitika Gorge, a hidden gem known for its stunning turquoise waters and lush native bush—a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.
