Great Cape Escape Self-Guided Cycle Tour: Coast & Wine Country

The Great Cape Escape Self-Guided Cycle Tour is a relaxed way to experience Hawke’s Bay’s coastal beauty and wine culture. Ride along scenic trails that wind past wetlands, historic landmarks, and sweeping views of the bay. It’s a journey filled with variety, from cultural highlights to world-class wineries.

Stops include Atea A Rangi Star Compass, Askerne Winery, Te Mata Estate, and Black Barn Winery, with an optional detour to Craggy Range for fine dining and award-winning wines. Along the way, you can picnic, sip, and savour the region’s best flavours. At the end of the ride, a shuttle takes you comfortably back to Napier, completing your perfect cycling escape.

Ride Details:

Duration: Approx. 6 hours
Cycling Time: Around 2.5 hours at a relaxed pace
Start Time: Bikes are ready from store opening—we recommend setting off between 10:00–11:30 AM
Return Shuttle: Departs 4:00 PM from Black Barn Winery, arriving back in Napier by 4:30 PM

Children: 16 years and under
Our e-bikes are available in sizes from XXS to XL, with a minimum height requirement of 140cm. There is no age limit as long as the rider fits the e-bike, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Child pricing applies to those aged 16 or younger on a regular bike.

Cruise Ship Passengers

If your ship is unable to dock: Full Refund**.

Your bikes will be ready as early as the ship’s arrival. We’ll arrange a return shuttle to fit your departure time, ensuring you're back comfortably on schedule.
