Each day brings fresh opportunities to explore the untamed Rangitikei countryside – from rolling farmland to secluded valleys and crystal-clear river crossings. The experience blends education and exploration, ideal for those wanting to refine their skills while surrounded by awe-inspiring scenery. After days on horseback, unwind at River Valley Lodge, where rustic charm meets modern comfort. Create your own holiday by improving your natural horsemanship skills and discovering the stunning scenery on horseback. Choose from 2, 3, or 4-day options.

Riding Ability: Intermediate – Advanced
Maximum Weight: 100kg.

WE PROVIDE

  • Riding Boots, helmet, leather chaps, and long oilskin riding coats for unpredictable weather.
  • Meals: Cooked Breakfast every morning.
  • Three-Course Dinner every night, including the night of arrival. Trekkers Lunch each day.
  • Rides: Each day includes horse riding experiences, including trekking and learning basic Natural Horsemanship techniques.
  • Accommodation: Garden or Riverside Deluxe guest room with own bathroom every night.
  • Free use of our Saunas and Hot tub.

NEED TO BRING

  • Trousers
  • Warm jumper for colder days
  • Sunscreen
  • Clothes for the lodge
  • Comfortable socks for your riding boots
  • Riding gloves if you like

INCLUSIONS

  • Riding gear: You'll need riding boots, a helmet (mandatory), short chaps, and long oilskin coats for unpredictable weather.
  • Meals: Enjoy a hearty 3-course dinner, cooked breakfast, and a trekker's lunch. Let us know beforehand if you have any dietary needs.
  • Riding: Spend a full day riding, with the flexibility to choose your preferred activities.
  • Accommodation: Relax in a private deluxe ensuite guest room at River Valley Lodge.
  • Spa: Take advantage of complimentary access to the spa and sauna facilities at the lodge.

EXCLUSIONS

  • Transfers to/from River Valley Lodge: We can organize a shuttle from Taihape for an extra fee.

CANCELLATION & REFUND

  • More than 30 days before – Deposit not refunded; other payments refunded.
  • Less than 30 days – Deposit not refunded; 50% of other payments refunded.
  • Less than 14 days – No refund.

If River Valley cancels:

  • You can accept the change, rebook, or get a full refund if major changes are needed (e.g., due to weather).
