Feeding Times and Family Fun

The petting zoo offers scheduled feeding times at 9:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 5:00 PM, creating the perfect chance to join in. Guests can chat with the team and even learn the names and habits of the animals. It’s an interactive way to add something special to your day in Tekapo.

Just a short 5–10 minute walk from the village centre, the zoo makes for an easy and enjoyable outing. Its setting on the historic Mt John Homestead adds charm and a touch of history. Families and travellers alike find it a must-do stop when exploring Lake Tekapo.

To ensure a fun and safe experience for both guests and animals, please adhere to the following rules:

• Active Supervision: Children must be supervised by an adult at all times while interacting with our animals.
• No Running: Please refrain from running near or chasing the animals.
• No Dogs: Dogs are not allowed in or near the petting zoo. They are permitted in the car park but must be on a lead at all times.
• Keep Noise Down: Avoid shouting at the animals. Keeping noise levels low ensures a better environment for everyone.
• No Drones: Drones are prohibited in Lake Tekapo due to our local airport. They also scare our animals, so please do not use them.
• No Smoking or Vaping: This is strictly enforced.
• No Outside Food: Please do not bring outside food for the animals as they have specific diets.

• Adult: 16 years +
• Children: 3-15 years

• 24 hours or more before travel: Full refund**
• Within 24 hours: No refund
