Exploring the Great Coast Road’s Natural Beauty

Travelling along the Great Coast Road is a highlight in itself, recognised as one of the world’s top 10 coastal drives. The route offers sweeping ocean vistas, rugged cliffs, and lush rainforest framing the way. With every turn, there’s a new photo opportunity that captures the untamed beauty of the West Coast.

After just 45 minutes, you’ll reach the village of Punakaiki, a destination rich in natural charm. The highlight here is the Pancake Rocks, layered limestone formations sculpted over millions of years. Alongside them, the famous blowholes put on an unforgettable display as waves surge through.

The Wonders of Pancake Rocks and Blow Holes

Your guide allows time to explore Punakaiki at a relaxed pace, giving you the chance to browse local shops and soak in the coastal vibe. The sound of the ocean and the unique rock formations create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in New Zealand. It’s the perfect blend of sightseeing and relaxation.

The tour continues to the nearby Truman Track, a short walk that leads you through native forest to a secluded beach. This hidden gem adds another layer of wonder to your West Coast experience. Once you’ve enjoyed the scenery, your guide will return you comfortably to your accommodation or the town centre.
