Kapiti Coast Scenic Private Day Tour

After collecting you from Wellington, we travel north along State Highway 59, passing through the city’s northern suburbs to reach our first stop at Pukerua Bay. From this stunning lookout, you’ll enjoy sweeping views over the Kāpiti Coast.

Next, we ascend Paekākāriki Hill for even more majestic panoramas of Kāpiti Island, the South Island’s northern tip, and on clear days, Mt Taranaki and Mt Ruapehu. While in Paekākāriki, we’ll visit Camp McKay, a historic site where the US Marine Corps were stationed during World War II before their Pacific campaign.

Our journey continues with a stop at the world-famous Southwards Car Museum, home to over 400 vehicles and three aircraft. As one of the largest private motor vehicle collections in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s a treat for history and car enthusiasts alike.

From there, we head to Waikanae Beach for a delicious lunch at Long Beach Café, followed by a visit to the tranquil Ngā Manu Nature Reserve. Depending on timing, you’ll either witness the fascinating eel feeding at 2 pm or enjoy the morning bird feedout tour. The reserve offers the chance to see Tuatara up close, explore aviaries filled with native birds, and, if you’re lucky, spot a Kiwi or two in their nocturnal house.

To end the day, we’ll visit one of Kāpiti’s craft breweries for a tasting or unwind with a coffee at one of the region’s excellent cafés. We return to Wellington via State Highway 1 (Transmission Gully), arriving at your chosen drop-off location by approximately 4:30 pm.
