Te Awa – The Great NZ River Ride
Known as the Great NZ River Ride, Te Awa is one of the country’s most scenic cycleways. Stretching along the Waikato River, it offers cyclists of all abilities the chance to enjoy a blend of rural beauty, smooth tracks, and cultural highlights.
Whether you are after a leisurely day trip or keen to extend your adventure, the Te Awa Waikato Cycle Explorer offers a wonderful balance of nature, relaxation, and discovery. It’s the perfect way to connect with the Waikato region and soak up one of New Zealand’s most iconic river trails.
RIDE CHARACTERISTICS
- Grade 1-2 riding, Suitable for Beginner riders upwards.
- 80% Wide paved cycleway, 15% custom built 3m wide boardwalks, 5% Road riding
- 10-70km, (1–5 hours riding) – choose your distance on the day.
Tour Details
- Departure Time: 8:00am from Auckland pickup point or your hotel.
- Minimum Group Size: 4 guests required for the tour to operate.
- Inclusions: Round-trip transport from Auckland, with hotel pickup and drop-off available upon request.
