Marine Wonders from the Sky

Kaikōura is one of the best places in the world to spot marine giants, and this tour makes it even more memorable with expert insight from Dr. Krista van der Linde. Flying above the Hikurangi Marine Reserve gives you a rare perspective of sperm whales, playful dolphins, and basking seals. The combination of science and scenery makes the experience both educational and awe-inspiring.

After the thrill of spotting wildlife, the helicopter lands at Karaka Lobster for a well-earned break. Here you’ll savour the region’s famous crayfish, freshly prepared and enjoyed with ocean views. It’s a perfect taste of Kaikōura’s seafood heritage paired with world-class scenery.

A Coastline Shaped by Nature

The return flight reveals Kaikōura’s dramatic landscape, forever changed by powerful earthquakes. From above, you’ll see the uplifted seabed and unique formations that tell the story of natural resilience. It’s a reminder of how closely the land and sea are connected in this special part of New Zealand.

This tour balances adventure and reflection, letting you enjoy both the excitement of discovery and the beauty of Kaikōura’s coastline. The shifting landscapes highlight the region’s strength and adaptability, creating a powerful ending to the journey. For many, it’s an unforgettable blend of nature, culture, and history.
