The 15,000ft NZONE tandem skydive takes you above Queenstown’s Wakatipu Basin for the longest freefall of its three jump options: up to 60 seconds. Check in at 35 Shotover Street before travelling about 20 minutes each way to the airfield near the Remarkables. Expect roughly two hours at the drop zone and three to 3½ hours overall. Sessions run daily when weather permits. Return transport, a safety briefing, equipment, tandem instructor, flight and parachute descent are included. It suits thrill seekers aged 13 and over who meet the 120cm height and 40kg weight minimums.

One Minute of Freefall Above Queenstown

The anticipation builds as the aircraft climbs high above Queenstown, revealing an ever-widening panorama of mountains, valleys and the blue waters of Lake Wakatipu. During the approximately 15-minute flight to altitude, you’ll have time to take in the scale of the Southern Alps before being securely connected to your tandem instructor and preparing for the moment the aircraft door opens at 15,000ft.

Then comes the reason for going higher: up to 60 seconds of freefall at around 200 km/h. When the parachute opens, the rush of freefall gives way to a three-to-four-minute scenic descent, with time to absorb Queenstown’s remarkable alpine setting from above. As the highest of the three Queenstown tandem skydive options, the 15,000ft jump delivers the longest freefall and more time to experience one of New Zealand’s most memorable adventure activities.

We don't skydive if the weather conditions are unfavourable—it's as simple as that. If the weather prevents you from jumping at your scheduled time, we can reschedule for later in the day or the following day, depending on the weather and your availability. It's always helpful to be flexible with your booking, just in case conditions change. Fortunately, Wānaka typically enjoys great weather, which is one of the many reasons it's a fantastic spot for skydiving!

All individuals weighing 95kg or more are subject to a Tandem Master assessment at the drop zone.

The minimum weight requirement is 40kg/88lb and the minimum height is 1.2m/47.2 inches. All passengers must fit securely into the harness.

Your first skydive will be an exhilarating mix of fear, joy, satisfaction, and adrenaline! The feeling of freefall is indescribable and must be experienced to be fully understood.

Dress warmly in comfortable clothing and ensure you're wearing enclosed tie-up shoes. We'll provide you with a full jumpsuit, gloves, hat, and goggles. Our highly trained tandem masters and crew will offer a full safety briefing and guide you through the entire experience.
