North Island

Start: Auckland
Duration: 5 days

The 5-Day Auckland Adventure Escape is a five-day, four-night holiday starting and finishing at Auckland Airport. It includes central accommodation, return airport transfers, sailing, bridge climbing, Rangitoto kayaking with barbecue dinner and a private Te Awa e-bike tour. The included Rangitoto kayak and hike requires a minimum age of 14 years; alternative experiences allow the itinerary to be tailored for children aged 7 years and over. Start dates are arranged on request year-round, subject to availability and activity requirements.

Sail, Climb and Paddle Your Way Around Auckland

Take the helm of an America’s Cup yacht, climb above Waitematā Harbour and paddle back from Rangitoto beneath Auckland’s city lights. This five-day escape brings together four distinctive outdoor experiences, with four nights in one central hotel and return airport transfers arranged.

A supported e-bike outing along Te Awa takes you beyond the city to the Waikato River. With three full activity days between arrival and departure, your escape combines time on the water, a volcanic summit walk and riverside cycling, returning to your Auckland hotel each night.

Personalise Your Auckland Adventure Escape

Prefer to explore Rangitoto in daylight? Ask about replacing the sunset kayak and hike with the daytime tour and barbecue lunch. For a day on land, choose the Wilderness & Nature Tour through the Waitākere Ranges and Piha instead. The Auckland Half Day e-Bike Tour provides a shorter cycling alternative to the full-day Waikato outing.

For an extra thrill, ask about Auckland Bridge Bungy, SkyJump, SkyWalk, SkyRide or a tandem skydive. We’ll help you choose experiences that suit your interests and fit your schedule. Alternatives replace the relevant included activity; additions and any price differences are quoted separately, subject to availability and suitable timing.

Frequently asked questions

The included Rangitoto sunset kayak and hike has a minimum age of 14 years, so the standard itinerary is best suited to adults and teenagers who meet all activity requirements. If travelling with younger children, ask us about replacing that experience and tailoring the remaining activities to suit your family. You can also compare our Auckland Family Escape.

No previous kayaking experience is required for the Rangitoto Sunset Kayak & Hike, but you need a reasonable level of fitness for sustained paddling and an uphill walk over uneven volcanic ground. Allow for up to approximately 1½ hours of kayaking each way and around 7 km of return walking. The operator’s maximum participant weight is 120 kg; tell us about any suitability concerns before booking.

No. The private Te Awa Waikato Cycle Explorer offers approximately 10–70 km of riding, with the distance selected to suit your ability and the day’s arrangements. E-bike hire and tour support are included. The full excursion takes approximately 9–10 hours including Auckland transport, rather than continuous cycling.

Return airport transfers are included, along with return Auckland City transport for the Te Awa cycling day. Other activities have their own meeting points. The Rangitoto kayak tour departs from St Heliers, with an advance-booked shuttle available from Auckland War Memorial Museum, subject to space. Ask about any additional transfers and shuttles you may need, and confirm meeting points and costs in your quote.

Sailing, kayaking, climbing and optional aerial activities depend on conditions. Some experiences operate in light rain, while wind or other unsuitable conditions may cause delays, changes or cancellations. Follow the operator’s check-in instructions, and ask how rescheduling, alternative activities and any applicable refunds would be handled under your booking terms and conditions.
