An Immersive Overnight Journey to Doubtful Sound

Begin your adventure with a tranquil cruise across Lake Manapouri, followed by a coach journey over the dramatic Wilmot Pass—New Zealand’s most remote sub-alpine road. At Deep Cove, you’ll board either The Fiordland Navigator or Milford Wanderer, traditional-style vessels fitted with modern comforts like spacious decks, cosy observation lounges, and a fully licensed bar.

As your journey unfolds into the remote reaches of Doubtful Sound, expert nature guides share stories and highlight encounters with dolphins, fur seals, and possibly rare Fiordland crested penguins. Anchored in a secluded bay, you can paddle a kayak, hop aboard a tender craft, or simply take in the majesty from the deck—or even dive in for a refreshing swim.

Play

Dining, Stargazing, and the Stillness of Fiordland

After an active day, settle in for a freshly prepared three-course dinner featuring local ingredients and New Zealand wines. The relaxed onboard atmosphere gives you a chance to swap stories with fellow travellers or retreat to the deck for a spot of stargazing under Fiordland’s dark skies.

In the morning, wake to the stillness of the fiord and enjoy a continental or cooked breakfast. Before returning to Manapouri, you’ll have time to explore more of Doubtful Sound’s hidden inlets—bringing your overnight wilderness escape to a truly unforgettable close.
