IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • FITNESS. Participants must be fit and healthy with basic swimming skills.
  • Suitability: Not suitable for pregnant women or those with heart conditions. Basic swimming skills are required.
  • Reservation Requirements: The Wairoa River flows only on select Sundays; bookings are essential.
  • What to Bring: Swimwear, shorts, towel, packed lunch, hydration, and a sense of adventure. GoPro friendly; chest harness recommended.

LOGISTICS

  • Check-In Time: Depart Rotorua at 8:30 am, returning around 5:00 pm.
  • Duration: Full day (approximately 8.5 hours).
  • Availability: Wairoa River operates 26 days a year, primarily on Sundays during summer, with some spring and autumn releases.
  • Locations: Wairoa River at 1376 State Highway 29, Tauranga, and Kaituna River at 18 Okere Falls Road, Okere Falls, Rotorua.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Health & Safety: River rafting involves risks. Precautionary safety measures are in place, but rafts can capsize, and participants may fall out in fast-flowing water. Kaituna Cascades cannot guarantee safety.
  • Minimum Group Size: The Wairoa tour requires a minimum of 4 participants.
  • Solo Travellers: Solo adventurers are welcome and can join a group of up to 6 others.
  • Rafting in the Rain: Rafting in the rain is an excellent wet-weather activity. Flows are regulated and safe even after heavy rain.
  • Capturing the Adventure: Professional photographers available; GoPro friendly with rental chest mounts. Digital photos of the tour can be purchased.
