Private Bay of Plenty Photography Tour

Your tour starts with a pickup from your accommodation or a pre-arranged spot (Tauranga or Rotorua). We'll have a quick chat about your preferences and decide on the best plan for your personalised tour.

Alternatively, if we're up early, we'll head to Moturiki Island to catch the sunrise over Shark Alley towards Motuotau Island. Our main beach offers a unique angle for both sunrise and sunset shots from the same spot. After breakfast and a brief lesson, we'll head inland to photograph two different waterfalls. McLaren Falls is a stunning sight where two rivers meet and flow into one. Then, we'll trek through the forest to Kaiate Falls, where water cascades down a ravine into a large single fall. In the evening, we'll aim to capture the sunset from Pilots Bay.

We'll travel to Rotorua, known as the land of volcanoes and a hotspot for geothermal activity in New Zealand. Here, you'll find hot springs, waterfalls, bubbling mud pools, and vibrant colours from underground acids - a mysterious paradise for photographers. If we're lucky, we'll discover a hidden Hot Water Waterfall that many overlook. After a relaxing lunch near Ohinimutu on the shores of Lake Rotorua, you'll have the chance to stroll through the Redwoods and experience the canopy walkway. In the evening, we'll finish our day with some long exposure photography at one of Lake Tarawera's jetties.

Today, we can explore deeper into the forest to see the Bay's most majestic waterfall, Tarawera Falls, standing at 65m tall in full flood. If time permits, we may even have the chance to climb above the cliff line and photograph Cascade Falls, a feature often missed by many.

Before we head back, we can stop at one of the many beaches along the way.
