This three-day self-guided Abel Tasman Coast Track walk starts from Nelson or Motueka, travelling via Kaiteriteri to walk between Tōtaranui, Awaroa, Torrent Bay and Mārahau. Departures run five days weekly from September–May, with 2.5–6 hours walking per day plus cruise and road transfers. It includes two beachfront lodge stays, meals, transport, luggage support and navigation assistance, and suits confident walkers aged 8+ wanting an independent but fully supported experience.

Walk Abel Tasman at Your Own Pace

Experience three contrasting sections of the Abel Tasman Coast Track while leaving much of the organisation to local experts. On the typical southbound itinerary, a scenic cruise carries you along the coast to Tōtaranui before you walk through native forest and secluded beaches to Awaroa. Day two offers the longest walking day, following the coast through Onetahuti, Tonga Quarry and Bark Bay before crossing the Falls River swing bridge and continuing to Torrent Bay.

The final day follows the southern Coast Track towards Mārahau, with tidal conditions determining whether you take the shorter route across Torrent Bay or walk around the inlet. Along the way, there is time to pause at golden beaches, swim in sheltered bays and enjoy views across Tasman Bay. Because your overnight luggage is taken care of and boat support can be arranged when needed, you can concentrate on the walking while carrying only what you need for the day.
