The Taste of Martinborough Winery Private Tour showcases one of New Zealand’s most celebrated wine regions with a full day of flavour and charm. A scenic drive through the Hutt Valley and over the Remutaka Ranges sets the stage with history and sweeping views. The journey continues into Martinborough, renowned as the North Island’s Pinot Noir capital, where boutique wineries await.

Four carefully selected vineyards highlight the region’s diversity, each offering tastings that capture the essence of Martinborough’s terroir. A vineyard lunch with a glass of wine adds a relaxed indulgence, while a personal chat with a winemaker or owner provides exclusive insights. From outstanding wines to welcoming hospitality, the experience blends culture, scenery, and flavour into a memorable escape.

Itinerary

After picking you up from Wellington, we’ll travel through the scenic Hutt Valley to our first stop at the Remutaka mountain range summit, 555 metres above sea level. Here, you’ll visit the Remutaka Crossing monument, a poignant tribute to the 60,000 New Zealand soldiers who marched from Featherston to Wellington during WWI.

From the summit, it’s a short 30-minute drive to Martinborough, where we’ll begin our wine adventure with tastings at the first winery of the day. You’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch accompanied by a glass of wine of your choice, setting the stage for a day of indulgence.

Throughout the day, we’ll visit four standout wineries, selected from an impressive list that includes Grava, Tiwaiwaka, Alexander Vineyard, Poppies, Moy Hall, Muirlea Rise, Haythornthwaite, Nga Waka, and Escarpment. During one of these visits, you’ll have the special opportunity to engage with the winemaker or owner for an in-depth look into their craft.

We’ll leave Martinborough around 3:30pm, arriving back at your selected drop-off location in Wellington by approximately 5:00pm. (Itinerary subject to change)
