Moke Lake Experience – A Kayak Adventure in Queenstown’s Backcountry

The Moke Lake Experience offers a serene escape into the untouched beauty of Queenstown’s countryside. Just a short drive from town, this peaceful lake is the perfect place to switch off, breathe in the fresh alpine air, and paddle through still waters surrounded by towering peaks. It’s an ideal outing for nature lovers wanting a more relaxed, intimate adventure.

Our friendly local guides will pick you up from Queenstown and share a few entertaining stories along the way to the lake. Once there, you'll get a quick safety briefing before gliding across the water at your own pace, taking in the magic of the mountain scenery. To finish it all off, enjoy some classic Kiwi refreshments before heading back into town with new memories and a camera full of epic shots.

Inclusions

  • SUPS or Kayaks, Paddles & Pumps
  • Life jackets (Your Personal Flotation Device PFD – must be worn at all times)
  • Waterproof splash tops/jackets
  • Safety briefing & map

What to Bring

  • Camera
  • Sun protection – Hat, Sunglasses, sunscreen
  • Towel and Swimwear
  • Drink Bottle (Full)
  • Suitable footwear (Sandals/Jandals/Thongs or Flip Flops)
  • Extra warm clothing (preferably not jeans)

Trips are suitable for first-time kayakers but you must know how to swim. If English is not your first language no problem, but you MUST be able to understand our safety briefing.

Important Info for Self-Drive Option

  • Please note the drive to Moke lake is along a gravel road and is approximately 30 minutes from Queenstown. There is no cell phone signal on this drive.
  • You must be at Moke Lake campground by 9:20am.

Cancellation Fees

  • After booking has been confirmed and more than 48 hours before travel: 10%**
  • From 24 to 48 hours: 50%**
  • Less than 24 hours: 100%
