Scenic Rides and Native Wildlife Encounters

The Native Tuna Trail offers a gentle horse ride through a picturesque stream valley where native New Zealand Tuna (eels) can often be seen gliding through the water. This peaceful journey lets you connect with nature while learning about these unique creatures and their importance in local ecosystems. The ride wraps up with beautiful views over Sandy Bay, a perfect photo stop to end your adventure.

Ideal for families and beginners with limited riding experience, the trail is suitable for those with 10 rides or fewer under their belt—but all levels are welcome. The pace is relaxed, and experienced guides ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe. It’s a great way to explore the natural beauty of the area without needing prior horse riding skills.

Fun for First-Timers and All Ages

This ride is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, making it a fantastic choice for visitors of all ages. With well-trained horses and supportive instruction, even first-time riders can confidently join the journey. The combination of wildlife spotting, storytelling, and coastal views adds a sense of discovery to every step of the trail.

Along the way, your guide will share local knowledge about the area’s flora, fauna, and cultural stories connected to the Tuna. Whether you're after a hands-on family activity or a relaxing nature-based outing, the Native Tuna Trail promises a memorable and meaningful experience.
