A Scenic Challenge for Growing Riders

The Tuna Trail Journey is a step up from beginner rides, created for those with 10 or more trail rides under their belt. It’s a bit more adventurous, taking riders over hills, through native bush, and across flowing streams for a hands-on riding experience. Along the way, you’ll stop to observe New Zealand’s remarkable longfin eels in their natural habitat.

This ride is perfect for confident beginners who are ready to build skills and explore more rugged terrain. You’ll need a reasonable level of fitness to handle the hill climbs and river crossings, but the rewards are well worth it. With experienced guides leading the way, you’ll gain confidence while enjoying an unforgettable connection with the land.

Discover Wildlife and Wild Terrain

The trail’s mix of terrain offers a true taste of Aotearoa’s natural beauty—dense bush, flowing water, and open hilltop views. It’s an ideal experience for riders who want more than a gentle stroll and are ready for a bit of excitement. The variety of the landscape keeps the journey interesting from start to finish.

Longfin eels, or Tuna, are a highlight of the ride and add a cultural and ecological depth to the journey. Spotting these ancient creatures as they wind through clear streams is a special moment that connects riders to New Zealand’s unique freshwater life. This ride blends challenge, wildlife, and scenery for a truly memorable trail adventure.
