After exploring the heights, descend along the Kepler Track into lush mountain and silver beech forest. The trail winds beneath towering limestone bluffs, offering plenty of opportunities to pause for photos and birdwatching. As the forest opens, the path leads to the tranquil sandy shores of Brod Bay.

Waiting at the bay, a water taxi provides a relaxing return to Te Anau, rounding off a full and rewarding day. The 8km downhill hike is moderate in difficulty, making it suitable for most travellers with a good fitness level. Throughout, your guide shares insights into Fiordland’s natural and cultural heritage, making this a truly unforgettable private experience.

FITNESS

• Medium to high fitness level required.
• Minimum 800m descent and 8km walk from Luxmore Hut, with a 3-6 hours walking time.
• Optional summit walk adds 2.5 hours and an additional 400m descent.

WHAT TO BRING

• Comfortable walking shoes with good tread; boots with ankle support recommended.
• Day pack with warm sweater/fleece, waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, sunhat, sunglasses, and camera.
• Drinking water. Walking poles available on request.

Note: Jeans and street wear are not suitable.

SCHEDULE

• 9:30 am pick-up from Te Anau accommodation.
• 10:00 am helicopter flight to Luxmore Hut.
• 4:30 pm arrival at Brod Bay, Lake Te Anau.
• 4:50 pm return to Te Anau accommodation.

Flexible departure times and half-day option available upon request.

ADD-ONS

Full day package from Queenstown, including helicopter pick-up, guided walk, and return via Lake Wakatipu.
