Conquer Queenstown’s Shotover River

The Shotover River Rafting experience is one of Queenstown’s most iconic outdoor adventures, delivering white-water action in a breathtaking alpine setting. With steep canyon walls rising around you, this half-day trip includes six major rapids and calmer waters to catch your breath or dive in for a quick swim. It's a high-adrenaline thrill ride that balances natural beauty with full-on excitement.

Rafting the grade 4-5 Mother section means navigating waves with names like Aftershock, Squeeze, Toilet, and Pinball—all guaranteed to get your heart racing. One of the highlights is the 170-metre Oxenbridge Tunnel, which ends in a dramatic blast into Cascade Rapid. It's an unforgettable experience suited for confident swimmers with a good level of fitness.

Scenic Access and Seasonal Adventure

Getting to the river is an adventure in itself, with transport into the remote Skippers Canyon by road or helicopter, depending on conditions. The journey offers panoramic views before you even hit the water, adding an extra layer of thrill to the overall experience. Operating between November and April, this seasonal grade 3-5 rafting tour is perfect for travellers looking to combine natural landscapes with heart-pounding action.
