Itinerary
Depart Te Anau – 7:00 AM Begin your journey with pickups from central Te Anau accommodation. Travel southeast through rolling farmland and remote Southland landscapes as you head towards the rugged Catlins coast.
Invercargill (Optional Stop/Start) Pause briefly in Invercargill to stretch your legs or connect with the tour. Guests can join or leave the journey here around 9:00 AM.
Curio Bay – Fossilised Forest & Coastal Wildlife Walk among the remains of an ancient petrified forest at Curio Bay, best seen at low tide. This coastal gem is also home to rare yellow-eyed penguins and Hector’s dolphins.
Optional Alternative: If tides allow, visit Cathedral Caves—dramatic sea caverns accessible by a scenic bush walk (entry fee applies).
Papatowai – Lunch & The Lost Gypsy Caravan Stop in the quirky village of Papatowai for lunch. You’ll also have time to browse The Lost Gypsy Caravan, a creative collection of handmade kinetic art and curiosities.
