What is NZeTA?

In Visas and Passports

The NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) is a security clearance that eligible travellers must hold before boarding their flight or cruise to New Zealand.

Who needs it?

  • Visa Waiver Citizens: Travellers from countries like the USA, UK, Canada, and Japan. See more here.
  • Australian Permanent Residents: Required (unless you hold an Australian passport).
  • Cruise Passengers: All passengers on cruise ships, regardless of nationality.

Validity & Timing

  • Valid for: 2 years (you can enter multiple times during this period).
  • Processing Time: Up to 72 hours. We recommend applying at least a week before you travel.

Important: The NZeTA is not a visa. It does not guarantee entry; you must still satisfy border officials that you meet entry requirements.
