Take Your Time on the Alps to Ocean Plus Self-Guided Tour

Designed for those who like to explore at a gentler pace, the Alps to Ocean Plus Self-Guided Cycling Tour stretches over 8–9 days of laid-back adventure. You’ll start from either Aoraki/Mt Cook or Lake Takapō, with each day dedicated to just one section of the trail. That means more time to relax, snap photos, and enjoy local highlights like lakeside trails, vineyards, and friendly towns.

Accommodation is sorted, your luggage moves ahead of you, and if you kick off at Aoraki/Mt Cook, a heli-flight gets you across the Tasman River in style. Whether you choose standard or superior lodging, comfort is built into every part of this experience. Add an e-bike, extend your stay in Ōamaru, and make the most of this scenic, supported ride through some of New Zealand’s most iconic landscapes.

Inclusions

  • *Superior Accommodation Upgrade: The Alps 2 Ocean trail is in a remote area with limited accommodation options. The Superior Upgrade provides higher-quality lodgings where available.

Most travellers arrive the night before. If you’re driving, park at our Twizel depot and take our return shuttle from Oamaru (2:45pm).

NZ weather is unpredictable—pack for all conditions. If the trail becomes unsafe, we may offer shuttle support (additional fees apply).

Your bag must weigh 15kg max. We’ll label and log your luggage and deliver it daily—usually ahead of your arrival. Extra bags or heavier gear may incur additional charges.
